Download and read online Blessings In The Storm in PDF and EPUB Samuel Wesley Gathing: A Closer Look is the moving true story of Sam and Beatrice Gathing and the struggles they faced rearing their fourteen children during the era of the Jim Crow laws. These laws meant that both society and the system enforced the damaging view that their children were just stupid black kids. In this climate of institutionalized discrimination, Sam had to maneuver his way through a massive minefield of irrational hatred intended to destroy him and his family. Sam and Beatrice began their life together in December, 1929, in Desoto County, Mississippi, taking the gift of a mule named Rock and a big red cow to start their farm. Over the years, as their family expanded, so did the land that they farmed. Sam learned to live by the rules of the day but was always a true leader to both his family and to his friends. Through all of the challenges that Sam encountered, his faith in God never wavered—he believed that the truth could be found in God’s words and actions, not in the laws that were meant to harm him and his people.

Download and read online Praise Dancing in the Rain in the Midst of My Life s Storm in PDF and EPUB Book Description Praise Dancing In The Rain In The Midst Of My Life’s Storm, (Little Things Makes A Big Difference) is intended to be an easy and gentle read, yet strongly effective. To you that read my book, I resign my liberty and I tell you my secrets. I will share with you the little things in my life that made a big difference. I am sharing my secrets with you and it is my sincere hope that you will tell someone. There have always been a certain feeling of power attached to the keeping of my secrets along with reciprocal bonds between my secrecy and emotions. Keeping my secrets made me an individual and now telling my secrets voluntarily forges a link with others and helps me become a better person. What you are about to read are secrets that I have jotted down in a journal, on sticky note or just carried around in my heart and head. My secret speaks of my hopes, dreams, love, gratitude and great passion for life. I share the stories of my life’s storms, my abilities over my disabilities, victory over defeat, advantages over disadvantages, and my desire to live a well live life over an unlived death. I am truly grateful and blessed from all the small things that made the big difference in my life. It is the experiences and learned lessons from the small things that I have learned how to praise dance in the rain until I can soar above my life’s storms. The little things are enormously significant. Each time I experience something I write it down in my journal and I ask myself two questions; What have I learned from it, and how can I use what I have learned to immediately improve my life? The content of this book is also the result of a quickening, energy and desire that translated from my heart through my head and now into this book. It offers inspiration, as well as spiritual, emotional and personal empowerment. It speaks of daily occurrences in my life, real life situations with others, humor and scriptures. This book imparts a message that Life is full of ups and downs, trail and tribulations, and challenges and struggles, which are called the storms of life. These storms presents opportunities, new levels of growth, new possibilities, wisdom, inner strength as well as an invitation for lips and heart to sing, arms to be spread as wings for soaring and feet to dance a graceful dance throughout the storm with the part of life that is stronger than the problem being faced. Every storm has a season and can be a result of God’s divine will as well as his permissive will. The storms in our lives provides the environment in which God reveals himself and where He wants us to learn to trust Him by taking Him at His Word. God does not always send the storm; however he will allows us to go through them for growth. He wants us to dance in the rain and soar above our storms as eagles. The Bible declares in Isaiah 40:31: “But they that “wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”(KJV). The eagle has long been a symbol of strength, power and majesty, they face storms fearlessly. They are of the few birds that do not fear or attempt to escape the storm. They simply use the storm to lift them higher, they adjust their wings feathers for maximum altitude and they are able to fly high above the storm. The eagle’s eyes are protected by a clear membrane that protects their vision, which allows them to see clearly as they fly at high speed and when they are in a storm. That is exactly what God wants our experiences in the storm to be. God wants us to learn to face storms with vision instead of emotion. He wants us to keep a clear vision and maintain the right perspective in our storms by letting our problems and challenges cause us to rise higher and higher. God wants us to envision victory over our storms. Eagles are constantly cleaning their feathers, pulling out any that are ruffled or damage

Download and read online There s a Storm Coming the Journey to Rescue and Save my Father in PDF and EPUB In narrative form, this book chronicles the five-year journey the author took with her father, afflicted with Alzheimer’s, to restore his dignity and help him reach his physical, mental, and spiritual potential. It presents the many obstacles, including the presence of evil forces and other family members’ mental disorders, which had to be overcome to accomplish this. The book illustrates how the common denominator of faith in God and a belief in His supreme will enabled communication with her father, with whom she previously had only limited interaction. She came to discover the importance of entering her father’s world, of confirming his reality, and to recognize though parts of the brain may be tangled and even gone, the response to spirit and tone actually remains. Her father’s sensory awareness and understanding increased, and she challenges some previous stereotypes held about patients with this disease. Pragmatically, the author gives the caregiver suggestions on how to ensure the patient’s sense of accomplishment and purpose and maps out daily activity processes. The book illustrates how previous experiences enabled them to survive their “storm,” as the author relentlessly struggled to keep her father from being institutionalized so he could remain a participant in this world. “Occasionally, in a man’s life, there is a book or manuscript that comes his way that is so far out of the ‘norm’ and so deep beyond expectation that it requires thought, prayer, and time to assimilate the information through meditation. There’s a Storm Coming, Kathryn Huddleston’s book on the subject of her father’s experience with Alzheimer’s disease and her passion to help him be the very best he could be physically, mentally and spiritually, is incredible. The journey with glimpses into the family life through the eyes of a person with medical insight, and ultimately, through a spiritual lens, allows us to take a peek behind the veil of one of the most difficult and tough situations facing many Americans today. This book is an incredible read for those who care about the condition of their fellow human beings.” Maury Davis, Senior Pastor, Cornerstone Church, Nashville, TN Maury Davis Ministries “God brings hope to us in stormy times. Through these dark years, compassion and care for loved ones is always first. This could not be more true than in this book.” Michelle Stein, Executive Director, Alzheimer’s Solutions Project Center for Health Transformation, Washington, D.C. “The author captures the reader’s attention by recounting in narrative form how she attempted to overcome the many challenges and trials in her ‘stormy family’ in order to lessen her father’s turbulence and bring him peace in the last phase of his life. In an unassuming, authentic way, the author illustrates how she ensured her father remained a valued participant in the world. Giving caregivers concrete ideas on how she helped her father make decisions, ensured up-close and personal interaction with others, and recognized the importance of tone, spirit, and listening, the book should give them a sense of hope.” E.L. Shoenfelt, Ph.D., Professor of Psychology, Western Kentucky University, Performance Psychologist “Kathryn Huddleston believes that while in the midst of other life storms God gave her the gift to care for her father. Here she shares that journey in a very personal, detailed, and honest fashion. Not only is this a wonderful handbook for the Alzheimer’s caregiver, Kathryn’s story affirms my experience of God’s daily walk with those who appear to be absent. While we may see our loved ones as fading way, in reality, they may be living the old gospel hymn, ‘Just a Closer Walk with Thee.’ This book gives the caregiver, or any reader, great spiritual hope.” Chaplain R. Gene Lovelace, Alive Hospice, Nashville, TN

Download and read online Poems from My Storms in PDF and EPUB This is a book about healing, forgiving and reaching out to others. In this book I try to be as transparent as possible. Over the years I've learned that anything that I've allowed to remain hidden has power over me. Only through revealing and then dealing with the pain will healing be allowed to take place. The Bible says in Revelation 12:11 " and they overcame him, by the blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony." God did not give me a spirit of fear, but of love, power and a sound mind. I can't fully serve God and help His people if I'm afraid of what may be said or thought of me. I am a servant, my whole life's goal is to please my Savior. God saved me from depression, suicidal thoughts and many other destructive behaviors, I'm not foolish enough to think that I could ever repay Him. What can I give Him that He hasn't already given me? I will spend the rest of my life laboring in His fields, spreading the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, proclaiming God's unfailing love for All of His children. Perfect love casts out fear, my love for God won't allow me to be afraid. I can stroll fearlessly through the valley of the shadow of death and fear no evil because He is with me His rod and His staff comfort me. I am not, nor will I ever be ashamed of anything I've gone through. The things that were designed to break me actually shaped me into the woman I am today.
