Download and read online The Cruise Ship Phenomenon in North America in PDF and EPUB Even taking into account the extraordinarily prosperous economic climate of the late twentieth century, the number of people who now choose a cruise ship vacation is phenomenal. The number of passengers leaving from North American ports leaped from 330,000 in 1965 to nearly seven million at the turn of the century. This book gives the reader a sense of the scope of the cruise ship industry, tracing the backgrounds of various cruise lines and providing information about the time, money, and effort that go into the myriad details encountered between building plan and cruising itinerary. From shipbuilders to cruise operators and the peripheral businesses of airlines, hotels, and land-based transportation and tour companies, cruise ships have spawned a far-reaching network that affects millions of passengers and involves billions of dollars. As an added bonus, the wealth of information in a detailed appendix gives readers an instant history of the ships, including notes on specifications, builders, registry, and passenger capacity. According to maritime historian John Maxtone-Graham, The Cruise Ship Phenomenon in North America is not only a good and fascinating read, it is also an unrivaled work of reference...Brian Cudahy has rewarded passengers, cruise line personnel, and maritime historians alike with a splendidly evocative and unique benchmark.

Download and read online Hare n There Adventures of Rosie Rabbit in PDF and EPUB Well, hello, my many dear readers. I am so excited about this wonderful adventure I am about to share with you. If you recall the last chapter in my Mackinac Island storybook, I mentioned that the five of us decided on taking a cruise to Hawaii. That means that I would have to fly to California with Diane and Jimmy K. then meet up with Rosemary and Richard. They lived in a charming city called Corona. More about that in another chapter. Before the cruise was scheduled for departure, we all decided to take a drive to Long Beach, where the majestic Queen Mary, a grand and great ocean liner that sailed the Atlantic Ocean, has been docked and transformed into a beautiful hotel. There is so much history behind this amazing ship going back to May 27, 1936, when it made her first maiden voyage. Our cruise ship will leave the Port of Los Angeles and be on the Pacific Ocean for four days then arriving at our first stop, the “big island” of Hawaii, visiting the port city of Hilo. We will enjoy the sights of this island for a full day, with day two in Honolulu. Next, Nawiliwili (Kauai) is our third port, with Maui (Lahaina) ending the island’s tour plans. Returning back, we again will be at sea for four full days and arriving at Ensenada, Mexico, before docking in Los Angeles.

Maps. Photos. Penisten is a lively guide with a polished style and ability to focus on family-oriented places to visit. He helps you explore Hawaii, not just visit! You'll bike down a volcano, snorkel or scuba in an underwater cave, follow a trail through a rain forest and fish for Pacific blue marlin, all before breaking for lunch with your literate host. If you're planning to be in the islands as a guest or a resident, you'll want this book at your side. -- Outside Magazine. Directs you away from the theme parks and into the great outdoors... the information on trekking routes, canoeing, wildlife refuges - even golf courses - is well researched. -- The Sunday Telegraph. If you like to hike, swim, snorkel, mountain bike, or pursue another active hobby while traveling, you will probably find this book a valuable guide for the Hawaiian islands. It is an overall guide, and I think you will probably also benefit by supplementing this book with a specific guidebook oriented towards the island(s) you are spending most of your time on. Avid snorkelers (I am one) will also benefit from the Malinowski series on snorkeling in specific islands in Hawaii. The best feature of the book is a list of the top ten adventures on each island. Useful for penetrating the immense amount of information to identify the most unusual or spectacular attractions on each island. -- M. Broderick (Amazon)

Download and read online FARM BOY COMES TO THE CITY in PDF and EPUB After having had the disire to a write a book on my life for years but felt I should wait for the right time. I had no writing experience or special ability in writing skills. English wasn't one of my strong points in school, and my computor skills were limited. One thing I did know and leaned on very strongly and that was, with God all things are possible. So in Dec. 2010 I felt the time had come where I should go ahead with the project which I did. Looking back now on how well it went I believe the Lord wanted me to write this book and give Him the Honor and Glory for having helped me to make this a success. I had a strong desire to thank Him for what He has done in my journey in life. So as you read or have read remember that I could not have succeeded without the Lord's help. So this can apply to your life as well. God Bless.
