Download and read online Draw in the Dunes in PDF and EPUB In 1969, the 42-year history of biennial golf matches between the United States and Great Britain reached its climax. The U.S., led by Jack Nicklaus, had dominated competitive golf for years; Great Britain, led by Tony Jacklin, was the undisputed underdog. But in spite of having lost 14 of 17 Ryder Cups in the past, the British entered the 1969 Ryder Cup as determined as the Americans were dominant. What followed was the most compelling, controversial, and contentious Ryder Cup the sport had ever seen. Draw in the Dunes is a story of personal and professional conflict, from the nervousness displayed at the very beginning of the Ryder Cup matches—when one man could not tee his golf ball—to the nerve displayed by Nicklaus and Jacklin, who battled each other all the way to the final moment of the final match. Throughout the Cup, 17 of the 32 matches were not decided until the final hole. Most electrifying was Nicklaus and Jacklin's contest, which decided the fate of the Ryder Cup. At the last putt, Nicklaus conceded to Jacklin, keeping the cup for the Americans while letting the British walk away with their most successful Ryder Cup result in years. From this event, which came to be known as "The Concession," Nicklaus and Jacklin forged a lifelong friendship and ushered in a new era of golf. From the author of the critically acclaimed golf history The Longest Shot, Draw in the Dunes is the gripping account of a legendary Cup competition, and the story of golf's greatest act of sportsmanship.

Download and read online Graph Drawing in PDF and EPUB This year’s meeting marked the Eighth International Symposium on Graph D- wing. The organizing and program committees worked hard to make this year’s symposium possible, and we were delighted that so many people came to - lonial Williamsburg, Virginia, for three days of the latest results in the eld of graph drawing. As in previous years, the review process was quite competitive. We accepted 30 out of 53 regular-length submissions, and 5 out of 15 short submissions, for a total acceptance ratio of 35 out of 68, or 51%. This year’s program featured several new developments in the eld. Four di erent approaches for handling very large graphs were presented in a session on force-directed layout. Two sessions were devoted to the latest advances in orthogonal graph drawing. And alongside the usual mix of theory and practice papers we had several contributions based on empirical studies of users and of systems. Our invited talks were given by two speakers who were new to most members of the GD community, but who work in areas that are closely related to graph drawing. Professor Colin Ware of the University of New Hampshire told us how knowledge of human visual perception is useful for the design of e ective data visualizations. And Professor David Jensen of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst talked about the process of knowledge discovery from graphs, a process that involves more than just graph drawing and visualization.

Download and read online Draw 3 D in PDF and EPUB 3-D?means "three dimensional." It's easy to draw from side to side on your paper, using its width. It's easy to draw from top to bottom on your paper, using its height. But how do you draw something going away from you, into the distance? How do you create depth (the third dimension) in your drawing? What I want to teach you is linear perspective, a technique first developed almost 500 years ago, during the Renaissance. As you flip through my illustrations, this may seem like really complicated and technical stuff. And it is ... sort of. Those clever artists who figured this out weren't trying to make your life easy They only wanted to make realistic pictures. Fortunately, you'll find that the basics really are pretty simple. Better, you don't need much beyond the basics to make some pretty cool drawings. Best of all, perspective can make your drawings look real in a way you can't achieve without it. You'll need a few supplies, some patience, and a positive attitude. Expect to make mistakes as you learn, and keep a smile on your face: with each mistake you learn another way not to do it

Download and read online Quick Draw in PDF and EPUB Storytelling is at its apex although the story itself begins with a rather mediocre murder. The background scenery takes place from the Californian West Coast to the deep, forgotten land of Mojave Desert. The author sets readers' eye on a LAPD detective, investigating a family massacre in Los Angeles. Actions, explosions and scorching grounds, thugs and rogues standing with full intention to kill the opponent, the bloody vengeance of a swordsman with a dark past....this novel reaches a height of "a hard-boiled crime action" with great surprising conclusion with contemporary touch of "urban mythos". Once you start turning pages, there is no turning back. Quick Draw's venom will taint you with an uncontrollable addiction to read on.
